About Blackwolf Run - The River Course
One of golf course architect Pete Dye's crowning achievements is Blackwolf Run. Opened in 1988, Golf Digest awarded Blackwolf Run the "Best New Public Course" in the country. Fair and dramatic for the amateur, the "beauty of the beast" River course measures 7,404 from the back tees with a slope of 151. Target landing areas, strategic bunkering, large undulating greens, and water on gorges on 14 of the 18 holes characterize the challenge of this championship course. The playing values of the River course are a match for its natural beauty. The River course is consistently ranked among the country's best, currently #17 on Golfweek's 2015 Best Resort Courses and #16 on Golf Digest's 2015/2016 America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses. Golf Magazine says this course "must be considered the nation's finest public-access course of modern times." The River course has played host to the U.S.Women's Open in 1998 and 2012 as well as the Anderson Consulting World Golf Championships in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
